Extra‐large MIMO enabling slow fluid antenna massive access for millimeter‐wave bands

چکیده

Fluid antenna multiple access (FAMA) is a new way of accommodating large number users on single channel for massive connectivity, with slow FAMA (s-FAMA) being the practical version achieving this. The impressive performance understood to be achievable if have independent Rayleigh fading envelopes. With mobile networks vamping up operating frequencies in 5G and beyond, nevertheless, will less multipath become more directional. It unclear s-FAMA still performs well how its affected by different parameters. To address this, this letter first develops model capable modelling mixture directional line-of-sight (LoS) non-LoS paths over ports fluid system. results indicate that essential Rice factor degrade rapidly. Also, contrast initial belief, size plays important role than or resolution antenna. restore gain s-FAMA, it proposed employ extra-large multiple-input multiple-output (XL-MIMO) at base station (BS) scramble create artificial so users' envelopes can again. confirm XL-MIMO enabling an effective technique connectivity millimeter-wave (mmWave) bands.

Optimal Transmit Antenna Selection for Massive MIMO Wiretap Channels

In this paper, we study the impacts of transmit antenna selection on the secrecy performance of massive MIMO systems. We consider a wiretap setting in which a fixed number of transmit antennas are selected and then confidential messages are transmitted over them to a multi-antenna legitimate receiver while being overheard by a multi-antenna eavesdropper. For this setup, we derive an accurate ap...

Antenna Count for Massive MIMO: 1.9 GHz versus 60 GHz

If we assume line-of-sight propagation and perfect channel state information at the base station – consistent with slow moving terminals – then a direct performance comparison between single-cell Massive MIMO at PCS and mmWave frequency bands is straightforward and highly illuminating. Line-of-sight propagation is considered favorable for mmWave because of minimal attenuation, and its facilitat...

Antenna Selection for MIMO Non-orthogonal Multiple Access Systems

This paper considers the antenna selection (AS) problem for a MIMO non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system. In particular, we develop new computationally-efficient AS algorithms for two commonly-used scenarios: NOMA with fixed power allocation (F-NOMA) and NOMA with cognitive radio-inspired power allocation (CR-NOMA), respectively. For the F-NOMA scenario, a new max-max-max antenna selecti...

Stepwise Transmit Antenna Selection in Downlink Massive Multiuser MIMO

Due to the large power consumption in RF-circuitry of massive MIMO systems, practically relevant performance measures such as energy efficiency or bandwidth efficiency are neither necessarily monotonous functions of the total transmit power nor the number of active antennas. Optimal antenna selection is however computationally infeasible in these systems. In this paper, we propose an iterative ...
